The Spirit Industry
A Conscious Experience of Culture, Craftsmanship, and Mindful Consumption
The spirit industry has long been synonymous with celebration and socialization, but a deeper narrative is emerging—one that intertwines craftsmanship with conscious consumption. In a world where traditions are often overshadowed by modernity, it's vital to appreciate the art and science behind growing and nurturing plants that form the essence of our beloved spirits. This appreciation not only preserves age-old traditions but also imbues our consumption with mindfulness and respect.
The cultivation of plants like the agave maximiliana, used in crafting artisanal spirits, is a testament to this balance of tradition and innovation. Grown under the harmonious influence of the sun and moon, these plants absorb the energies of their environment, which in turn affect the soil and, ultimately, the spirits produced. This ritualistic cultivation honors the intelligence carried within these plants, highlighting the symbiotic relationship between nature and human well-being.
Spirits, in a mystic sense, are vessels through which we can connect with higher realms. This belief underscores the importance of how and by whom these spirits are prepared. When crafted with intention and blessed through ritual, these spirits carry a higher vibration, opening our crown chakras and making us receptive to messages from the universe.
Imagine guiding guests through an astral travel ceremonial activation, designed to connect them with the spirit of the agave plant. This transformative experience can educate and inspire, fostering a more conscious approach to consumption. It emphasizes that the spirits we enjoy in our favorite restaurants and nightclubs are not mere commodities but carriers of ancient wisdom and energy.
Balancing our consumption is crucial. In our fast-paced society, it's easy to overindulge, losing the sacred connection with what we consume. By being mindful of how often we partake, we can maintain a healthy equilibrium, ensuring that our social gatherings remain spaces of genuine connection and appreciation.
The maestros, landkeepers, and mystics play a crucial role, infusing each bottle with their deep understanding of nature and astrology. Their artisanal skills and profound knowledge preserve traditions and sustain communities. By entrusting production to these skilled craftspeople, we maintain the spirits' integrity, support livelihoods, and ensure the wisdom is passed down through generations.
Recently, guests flew in from Tulum, Singapore, Japan, The Netherlands, Los Angeles, and Mexico City to participate in a enlightening three-day experience minutes from a small town called Atenguillo 2 hours outside of Guarlajara. Sitting up on a remote mountain top mixologists and chefs, both local and international, collaborated to develop a culinary pairing menu that complemented the zest of raicilla with diverse ingredients. This fusion of flavors highlighted the potential of raicilla to be more than a spirit—it became a medium for cultural and gastronomic expression.
During the event, guests participated in the "Planta Una Reina," an annual tradition where they visited the La Reina Taberna to learn the distilling process directly from artisans and maestros. They planted agave maximiliana, which takes eight years to mature before it can be harvested and distilled into raicilla. This plant's remarkable resilience allows it to survive nearly six months without water, a testament to its enduring spirit. Planting during the new moon imbues the agave with additional spiritual energy, creating a profound connection between the plant and the individual.
